The World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) uses a property
acquisition register for land bought. This data existed
in Microsoft Excel tables and had no spatial component.
A requirement was identified to spatially enable the
existing data to allow for more effective property.
The critical project output was to distribute data,
spatial and non-spatial, through a single web front-end
connected to a centralised database. ESRI’s ArcIMS
was chosen for the mapping component and SQL Server,
in combination with ArcSDE, for the backend database.
