contract by Ghanaian Ministry of Finance and
Economic Planning to provide system and data
integration services to the Ministry of Lands and
Natural Resources (MLNR). The goal of the project,
funded by the European Union through the Mining
Sector Support Programme (MSSP), is to ensure that
existing systems and databases throughout the MLNR

technologies.
The main beneficiaries of the Project are the
Ministry of Lands and Natural resources, the
Minerals Commission, the Inspectorate Division of
the Minerals Commission, the Geological Survey
Department and the Precious Minerals Marketing

“Spatial Dimension will be providing a solution
based on leading technologies from Microsoft (SQL
Server and Exchange Server), ESRI (ArcGIS Server)
and Geosoft (DAP Server). Having recently deployed a
very similar solution for the Ugandan Department of

About the Ghanaian Mining Sector Support
Programme
The European Union has provided funding to the
Government of Ghana, under a Mining Sector Support
Programme (MSSP) to sustain the country’s mining
sector economic performance and alleviate poverty by
increasing employment and to mitigate the mines’
negative environmental impacts. The specific purpose
is to enhance institutional capacities within the
Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to
effectively promote and regulate the mineral
resources sector in order to reverse trends of
reduced private-sector mineral exploration, while
facilitating the development of sustainable
medium-term projects. |
