December 2008 Spatial Dimension, together
with partners Swedish Geological and Sunshine
Projects, has completed the design work for Uganda's
new Geological and Mineral Information System (GMIS).
"We are thrilled that the Department of
Geological Survey and Mines (DGSM) has approved the
GMIS Design Report and we are now planning for the
immediate start of the implementation phase of the
project," said Bill Feast, Managing Director of
Spatial Dimension.
The GMIS design is based on industry leading
technologies such as ESRI's ArcGIS Server, Geosoft's
DAP Server and the open source DotNetNuke content
management system.
The project, funded by the World Bank, is part of
the Sustainable Management of Mineral Resources Project
within the Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Development, Uganda.
